This Privacy Policy explains how Daily ("Daily", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares personal information when you use https://playdaily.org and related services.

1. Information We Collect

Account

• Email address
• Username
• Password credentials, handled by Supabase Auth
• Google account email if you sign in with Google
• Country or region, where available
• Notification preferences

Payments

If you buy Daily Pro, Stripe handles checkout and billing. We store your Stripe customer ID and plan status to unlock access. We never receive or store full card numbers or security codes.

Gameplay

• Puzzle attempts, scores, and completion times
• Streaks, activity history, and archive results
• Skill stats across six cognitive categories
• Answers and recent question identifiers sent to server-backed games for dealing and judging
• Multiplayer display names, device identifiers, room presence, messages, reactions, and results

On-Device Game Progress

Songless Unlimited, Krillion, Noillirk, Bandle Unlimited, Size It Up, Fermi, CaseGuessr, MapTap, Poople, Silverbrook, and Songspot can be played without an account. Depending on the game, progress, best scores, run options, and recently dealt content are stored in your browser's local storage. Clearing your browser data removes these local records. We also keep a small local record of which games you have played today.

Some features also process gameplay on our servers. Fermi sends guesses and question identifiers to deal questions and reveal results. Krillion and Noillirk send typed answers for judging. An answer is checked against the game's own answer lists first; one the lists do not cover is sent with the game prompt to an OpenAI model, through Microsoft's Azure OpenAI Service or OpenAI's own API, for a live judgment. Judgments and normalized answer text may be retained so later players receive a consistent result; they are stored with the prompt, not with your account or browser. Multiplayer features share room activity and store chat and leaderboard results through Supabase. A private room is open to anyone who has its six-digit code, and the room and its chat are deleted shortly after its last player leaves. Avoid including personal information in answers or room chat.

Contributions

If you send a contact message, puzzle idea, or rights report, we collect the contact details and text you provide. Submissions are screened with Google reCAPTCHA and stored in a private Google Sheet.

Tips

The "Buy me a coffee" links go to our page on Buy Me a Coffee, which takes the tip and its payment under its own terms and privacy policy. Buy Me a Coffee may share with us what you choose to leave there, such as a name and a message. A tip is not linked to your Daily account.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

• Authentication cookies that keep you signed in
• A Pro status hint used for page layout, and random browser cookies used to limit game API requests
• Local storage for game preferences, progress, multiplayer identity, and guest scores awaiting sign-in
• Google Analytics cookies; Vercel Web Analytics uses request-derived identifiers for aggregate traffic statistics
• Advertising cookies for visitors without Daily Pro (Mediavine and its advertising partners)
• Grow (by Mediavine) cookies and identifiers on main site and game pages, for the favourites widget and advertising identity

2. How We Use Information

• Create and secure your account
• Run puzzles, rankings, stats, and archive access
• Process payments and plan status through Stripe
• Send transactional emails such as password resets and billing notices
• Send optional product emails if you opt in
• Judge answers and run multiplayer rooms
• Review contact messages, puzzle submissions, and rights reports
• Detect cheating, abuse, and technical problems
• Show ads that keep Daily free, and measure how the site is used

3. Advertising

Daily shows ads through Journey by Mediavine to visitors without Daily Pro. This site is affiliated with Mediavine for the purpose of placing that advertising, and Mediavine collects and uses certain data for advertising purposes. What Mediavine collects, who it shares or sells it to, and how to opt out are set out in the Mediavine Advertising Privacy Notice at the end of this page, which Mediavine inserts and keeps current itself.

Main site and game pages also load Grow, Mediavine's favourites and sharing widget. Grow uses cookies and identifiers that also support Mediavine's advertising; the opt-outs in the Mediavine Advertising Privacy Notice apply to it.

Daily Pro removes ads: when you are signed in to a Pro account, no ad is requested or shown. This page is the one place where the Mediavine script runs for every visitor, and it runs here only to add that notice, not to serve ads. Analytics operate for all visitors as described in this policy.

We do not share your email, username, or gameplay data with advertisers.

4. Service Providers

We rely on:

• Supabase for the database and authentication
• Stripe for payments
• Google for sign-in (OAuth), reCAPTCHA, Analytics, and Sheets
• Journey by Mediavine for advertising and the Grow widget
• Vercel for hosting and analytics
• Cloudflare for content delivery and game file storage
• Sanity for stories and articles
• OpenAI models, through Microsoft Azure and OpenAI, for live judging of some Krillion and Noillirk answers
• Buy Me a Coffee for optional tips
• Apple Maps for CaseGuessr maps and Look Around imagery
• Third-party services that deliver some of the media shown in our games

Each provider processes data under its own terms and privacy policy. Media and maps may load directly from their providers, which receive your IP address and standard request information. We do not send your account, username, or scores to those media and map providers. Other providers receive the information needed for the functions described above.

5. Public Information

Your username, scores, ranks, public profile stats, and shared results may be visible to other players. Multiplayer participants can also see room display names, messages, reactions, presence, and game results.

6. What We Do Not Do

We do not sell or rent your email address. We do not store full payment card details. We do not share your account or gameplay data with advertisers.

7. Data Retention

• Active accounts: kept while the account is active
• Deleted accounts: deleted or anonymized within 90 days where practical
• Leaderboard and archive records: may be anonymized after account deletion
• Payment records: kept as required for tax, accounting, and fraud prevention

8. Security

We use HTTPS, access controls, and managed providers. No system is perfectly secure.

9. Your Choices

You can update your username and notification preferences in account settings, and adjust ad personalization through Google. To request deletion or a copy of your data, email privacy@playdaily.org.

10. Regional Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or port your data. Email privacy@playdaily.org to exercise them.

11. Children's Privacy

Daily is not intended for children under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will delete it.

12. International Transfers

Your data may be processed in Canada, the United States, or other countries where our providers operate.

13. Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be posted on our website or sent by email when appropriate.
