It is our take on it: the same idea of building a song up one instrument at a time, played as an unlimited run of five rather than one puzzle a day.
On a song you know well, yes - a groove and a tempo carry more than people expect. That is where every round starts, and it is the hardest way to play, so it pays the most: a track named on drums alone is worth the full 10,000 points. Every instrument you add takes 2,000 off, down to 4,000 with the whole band playing.
Drums, then bass, then everything else the band is playing - guitars, keys, strings - and the vocal last. 4 in all, always in that order, because the singing is usually the answer and selling it early would end the round.
Yes. It is a play button and a search box, so it plays the same on a phone, a tablet or a laptop. Headphones help: a bass part under drums is easy to miss on a phone speaker.
Thousands of charting tracks from 1980 to 2026, drawn from the most streamed songs of each era. Songs whose parts do not separate into a fair set of hints are left out. Explicit tracks are in by default, and one switch in Options takes them out. A run is 5 of them, easiest first.
Ahead of time, not while you play. Every track in the catalog was separated into its parts in advance, so pressing play starts the audio immediately rather than waiting on anything to be worked out in your browser.
