Can you place a city you have never been to?
Usually closer than you would think. You are given the country, so the question is where inside it, and a rough sense of coastlines and capitals gets you most of the way. Anything inside 150 km counts as a hit, so a considered guess almost always scores.
How is MapTap Unlimited different from the daily MapTap game?
The daily MapTap deals 5 places and stops until tomorrow; this one deals 5 more every time you press play again, as often as you like. Free, with no install and no sign-up: it runs in the browser and plays the same on a phone as on a laptop.
Which cities does MapTap Unlimited use?
The world's most populous, banded by size so a run opens with places most people know and ends somewhere harder. Every city is named with its country, and the globe carries real country outlines, so you are always placing a real city on a real map rather than picking from a list.
How is MapTap Unlimited scored?
By distance, not right or wrong. A tap within 25 km is full marks and the score falls away from there, so a near miss still pays and anything inside 150 km counts as a hit. 5 places make a run out of 1,000.
How do you get better at guessing where in the world a city is?
Anchor on the coast. Most large cities sit on water or a river, so placing the coastline first and then moving inland beats guessing at the middle of a country. Learn the capital of each country you keep missing: it is the most likely city to come up and it drags every nearby guess closer.
What counts as a good MapTap Unlimited score?
A run is out of 1,000. Landing every place inside a few hundred kilometres puts you well past half, and a run over 800 means you were close to exact on nearly all 5. Your best run is kept on your own device.
