How to play
- 1Six five-letter words cross in a waffle: three across, three down. Their letters have been shuffled.
- 2Green means the letter is in its place. Yellow means it belongs in that word, somewhere else. Grey means it belongs elsewhere.
- 3Swap any two tiles by tapping both, or by dragging one onto the other. You have 20 swaps.
- 4Every waffle can be solved in 10. Solve in 10 for 5 stars; every two extra swaps cost one.

What is the Waffle game?
Waffle is a word game on a 5x5 grid with the four inner corners missing: six five-letter words, three across and three down, with their letters shuffled. You swap tiles two at a time until every word reads right, with green and yellow tiles telling you which letters are home and which are close.
How is Waffle Unlimited different from the daily Waffle game?
The daily game deals one waffle a day. Waffle Unlimited deals a new one whenever you press New waffle, from 5,758 waffles, and keeps your streak and your stars on your own device. Free, and nothing to install.
Is every Waffle puzzle solvable in 20 swaps?
Yes, and in fewer. Every waffle here is made by taking six real words and applying exactly 10 swaps' worth of shuffling, then proving with a solver that 10 is the fewest that undo it. So 20 always suffices, and a perfect run has 10 to spare.
How are stars scored in Waffle?
By the swaps you have left when the last word falls into place. Solve in 10, the fewest any waffle needs, and you get 5 stars; every two extra swaps cost one. Running out of swaps ends the puzzle and shows the solution.
What do the colours mean in Waffle?
The same as in Wordle. Green: that letter is in the right place. Yellow: that letter belongs in this word, but not here. Grey: that letter belongs in a different word. A tile where two words cross is judged by both of them.
How do you get better at Waffle?
Look for pairs first: two tiles that each belong exactly where the other sits fix two letters in one swap, and a perfect run is nothing but such pairs. Settle the crossings before the middles, since a corner letter serves two words. And never move a green tile; it is already home.
